Pastor in-service training

We are increasingly being used by groups of pastors between 10-20 in number, who come to update their theological acumen with our in-service development weeks. A Monday-Friday package is offered with seminar work each morning, afternoons free to use the extensive resources of our library and evenings fore relaxation and recreation in the city of the golden spires, Prague. Each day takes one of our main thematic area with seminars led by our resident staff to bring you up to date with current scholarship:

  • Baptist/Anabaptist studies, Biblical Studies, Missiology, Theology, the Church and the Environment
  • the Church and religious freedom and human rights
  • post-modern culture and context

Baptist Union leadership consultancy

In the life of our unions there are concerns about what it means to be a denomination today. Many churches are not responsive to the "societal" or "juridical" model of denominations created during the 1800’s so important questions are now being asked in many parts of the world about the ecclesial reality of the more-than-local and alongside that IBTS has been research and talking and writing about the gathering, convictional, intentional communities of faith which are interdependent in a missional perspective and what that all means for congregational leadership.

So, our Prague-based academic team have been working with groups of leaders to explore these issues together. Some teams have come for "space/retreat" and turned to us for input as part of their own reflective process and we can put together a package with accommodation, meeting room, seminar support for your Union or Regional leadership.

Special theme conferences

Each of our five Research Institutes develops and runs a specialist conference each year, but we are delighted to work with you in tailor-making a conference for your own situation. Major themes on offer include:

  • The Church and the Environment
  • Baptistic life and spirituality
  • Baptistic worship
  • Exploring intentional living in community
  • The world of "posts" – Europe today from a theological perspective
  • Living ethically in a not so ethical world
  • Handling the Bible in a gathering community
  • The gathering, intentional church – learning from our foreparents of the radical reformation

Conferences

We can also arrange cultural visits, concerts etc and the IBTS library is fully available to residents. Relax in the evening in our Guest lounge. Additional services can include group airport pick-up, porterage, musical and cultural evenings, site tours, informal reception in the Chateau.
